Job Description
Garrett Engineering Group (GEG) is seeking a talented and motivated Roadway Project Engineer to help
us meet our Roadway Engineering Department’s goals and objectives. We will consider any viable
candidate who is currently residing in the State of Florida. This is a ‘work from home’ position…no
relocation necessary!

Required Responsibilities

  • Ability to proficiently design Roadway and Maintenance of Traffic Plans
  • Ability to complete technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, specifications, estimates and plans production for assigned projects
  • Be proficient in MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer
  • Experience with and working knowledge of FDOT Design Manual, FDOT Standard Specifications, FDOT Standard Plans, and FDOT Basis of Estimates
  • Ability to oversee and direct roadway engineering projects from manhour negotiations to specifications submittal
  • Ability to mentor and train younger engineering staff.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with clients to build and maintain good relationships through dayto-day interaction during the design process
  • Ability to work well with other related disciplines and coordinate design activities for timely completion and within budgets
  • Perform field reviews and investigations of the project sites.

Additional Responsibilities (Not Required but Desired)

  • Ability to proficiently QC Roadway and Maintenance of Traffic Plans
  • Ability to proficiently create and modify 3D models using MicroStation OpenRoads Designer platform
  • Ability to review and respond to construction related questions such as RFI’s or RFM’s
  • Ability to review shop drawings
  • Comfortable with communicating with FDOT during manhour negotiations and miscellaneous meetings either through teleconferencing or face-to-face meetings.
  • Ability to act as a GEG representative at project meetings and coordination with project sponsors or clients
  • Possess good presentation and marketing skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • A BS in Civil or other related Engineering Degree
  • 5+ years of experience with Roadway Design on FDOT projects
  • Current Florida P.E. registration or ability to obtain within 6 months
